Edinburgh University to host theology lecture

The role of Divinity among the other Humanities will be the theme of the talk

Professor of Divinity at Edinburgh University, Rachel Muers, will this September hold a lecture on the intersection between theology and the other Humanities, on September 14th.

The first ever female holder of the Chair of Divinity at the university, Muers has a long background in theology studies. She received her degree from Cambridge in 1997, went on to work for Cambridge, Exeter and Leeds Universities, before taking her current position in Edinburgh last year. 

She contributed a chapter on war and peace to a 2022 book “The Edinburgh Critical History of Twentieth Century Christian Theology. As well as all this, she is a member of the high-level ‘Faith and Order Commission’ at the World Council of Churches which works for the reunification of the global Christian body. As part of this, she contributed to the publication ‘Churches and Moral Discernment’ published in 2021. 

The talk is free to attend, and will run from 2pm-3pm at the Assembly Hall, New College, Mound Place, Edinburgh EH1 2LX.
