Edinburgh Theological College’s Bob Akroyd will assume the role in 2023
Professor of Systematic Theology and Practical Theology Bob Ackroyd has taken up the role of Moderator for the Free Church of Scotland for 2023.
Bob was born and raised in New Jersey in the United States, attending the University of Virginia. After coming to the UK to study Scottish and Irish Nationalism, he came to faith after a time with Buccleuch Free Church and went on to volunteer with Bethany Christian Trust. He then studied at Edinburgh Theological College till 1999, and was ordained assistant minister at Buccleuch Free Church. Since then he has served in other roles such as Chaplain to prisoners in HMP Edinburgh.
Reacting to the news, Professor Ackroyd said:

The Free Church General Assembly takes place between the 22 nd and 25 th of May in St Columba’s Free Church on the Royal Mile.
