Cutting Edge Theatre will put on a Passion performance in spring 2024

Auditions are to be held in the coming weeks for the next showing of the Edinburgh Easter Play, the now well-established theatre piece held each year in Princes St Gardens.

Cutting Edge Theatre are looking for people with or without acting experience to join their production of the Passion story in 2024.

Run since 2005, the show attracts hundreds each year to see the live show of Jesus’ final hours. Full period dress is used, from first-century tunics and headdresses to Roman centurions in red and golden armour. Each year has a fresh script and angle, with a different actor playing Jesus, and features people from across the churches of Edinburgh.

Suzanne Lofthaus is the director of the company and has directed Passion plays all over the world from Milan, Italy to Brazil and the US.

The show is also financially support by a variety of organizations, including the Society for the Promotion of Christian Knowledge and two Edinburgh Churches, Gorgie-Dalry- Stenhouse CofS and Craiglockhart Parish.

This year production will begin rehearsal in October with the play being put on in March 2024.
