Christian organization needs funds to repair 100-year old church building
A Christian outreach in the Edinburgh Gorgie area is seeking funds to do far-reaching work on a long- standing church building, Gorgie Mission Church. 20 Schemes is a Christian charity which funds the starting of ‘healthy, Gospel churches’ all over Scotland, from Merkinch in Inverness to Onthank in Ayrshire. It specializes in reaching poorer urban areas, hence the name ‘Schemes’
Gorgie’s church was recently found to have asbestos in it, making it unsafe to meet in and a thorough inspection of the whole building was carried out. The upshot of this was that the total cost of refurbishing the building will run to £250,000. To meet this high cost, the charity has launched a Christmas Appeal to get the ball rolling. One generous donor has agreed to match every gift given, doubling the value of contributions.
