Edinburgh author Kemi Adesola has just published her most recent book- on prayer- and it’s free!
Kemi has a desire to encourage Christians to engage more in prayer and to renew their trust that God will answer. Her latest book ‘How to pray and God will listen’ is designed to do just this.
Kemi herself has a background in pastoral and therapeutic counselling and is part of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Craigentinny.
The book is written in simple language and is designed for any level of reader to engage with. She believes that prayer is a fellowship with God similar to the interaction that a parent and child have and God loves the exchange – just as earthly parents love the exchange with their children. Kemi points out that like a child, we need humility to pray. Prayer is the action of a humble person, proud, independent people don’t pray. It’s important, she says, that we pray to praise God and thank Him and tell Him how much we love Him. But also He wants us to make requests for him. Overall prayer should be a time of enjoying God’s presence- it should be enjoyable!
In an uncertain world Kemi believes that prayer prepares us for what the future holds. We can pray against harmful things that we see coming our way. She encourages us be strategic in our prayers and follow Jesus’ advise on how to pray effectively.
